Twelve Clans Doctor Receives Special Honor

WINNEBAGO, NE. - Dr. Lynelle Noisy Hawk, the Clinical Director at Twelve Clans Unity Hospital since 2018, has been invited to be a speaker at the 5th Annual Distinguished Lecture in Native American Health at the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine. Dr. Noisy Hawk is being honored this spring for her efforts as a clinician and administrator in improving the health of Native Americans.
“I am a humble person who does not look for the spotlight or recognition for my efforts in improving healthcare for our Native people. Therefore, to be recognized by the medical school I attended brought a great sense of accomplishment and helped me realize that all my efforts throughout the years have truly made an impact,” said Dr. Noisy Hawk. She has been practicing medicine since 2007 and is an enrolled member of the Oglala Lakota Nation.
Dr. Noisy Hawk received her undergraduate degree from South Dakota State University and her medical degree from the University of South Dakota School of Medicine. She is a member of the Native American Advisory Cabinet for USD School of Medicine where she helps recruit Native Americans into careers in medicine and healthcare.
As a member of the hospital’s Executive Team, Dr. Noisy Hawk is responsible for the oversight of six clinical departments including inpatient, outpatient, and emergency services. She is involved with strategic planning, budgeting, supervision of medical providers, policy development, and hospital management. Dr. Noisy Hawk also plays an active role in the hospital’s path to certification by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The event will take place on Monday, April 6th , 2020 at noon in Vermillion, South Dakota.
