Do you Know Your Numbers?

A1C test results indicate the percentage of hemoglobin in your blood that is coated with glucose. The results are used to diagnose diabetes and prediabetes, and to monitor how well a diabetes treatment plan is working. What's normal for you depends on your age, health, and other factors but our diabetes team or your primary care provider can tell you what's healthy for you. Stop by our next "Wa-i-pi-nagu" or the Path to Good Blood Pop Up Screening Clinic or schedule an appointment with your primary care provider to check your levels.

We recommend that people with diabetes try to keep their A1C levels below 7%. We recommend people with prediabetes make proactive steps to try to avoid progressing into a diabetes diagnosis. Both of these things can be achieved through a combination of lifestyle changes, medication, weight loss, and exercise.
