Winnebago, NE – As of March 27th , the Winnebago Comprehensive Healthcare System will have held its 1,000th Daily Huddle Meeting. This is a benchmark in safety and consistency for the organization.

These quality assurance meetings involve upwards of 30 staff members per day and are an opportunity to consistently communicate important operational information and updates between all WCHS departments. It is a proven effective method of updating all staff on safety reports, daily staffing, events, etc. Participants range from executives to employee health, to primary care, to preventive, to acute.

“These meetings are vital in providing the best possible care we can, and to be able to say we have held 1,000 consecutively is something to celebrate,” says David Parks, WCHS Compliance & Risk Manager, Privacy Officer, and leader of these daily meetings. “This achievement is monumental in WCHS history, as it is a testament to our commitment to quality healthcare and an open, communicative, well-informed work environment.”

According to How Every Hospital Should Start the Day (2014) by Rishi Sikka, MD for Harvard Business Review on hbr.org, “[These meetings] connect leaders with work occurring throughout the hospital, focuses leaders on helping the front lines do their best work, and helps drive the organization-wide culture change needed to improve safety and quality across the board.” It is an invaluable opportunity to keep everyone safe, happy, and educated. It has been a vital asset to WCHS as they work toward their vision of leading the nation in health for indigenous people.

WCHS is proud to hold these meetings and is committed to growing through them every day. WCHS CEO David Edwards says, “It seems like a small thing - a simple meeting - but it adds up over time to create an accomplishment in transparency and accountability. This is yet another testament to our WCHS family's dedication to being better every day. WCHS is committed to holding these critical touch points and growing stronger through them every time."
