WCHS Welcomes New Board Member Jeffrey D. Harrison, MD

Winnebago, NE – The Winnebago Comprehensive Healthcare System is thrilled to announce the arrival of Jeffrey D. Harrison, MD to their Board of Directors. WCHS is dedicated to creating and sustaining health in the Winnebago community, and Harrison’s voice will only elevate that vision.
The Board of Directors at WCHS serves as the governing body for the organization. The board assists and protects the executive team in their efforts to set strategy, oversee management, and to focus on the accountability and structure of WCHS. This board is comprised of tribal council members, as well as esteemed healthcare experts, ensuring the values of the indigenous community are being honored and that the needs of the WCHS patient community are being met.

A distinguished figure in the field of healthcare, Harrison has been honored for his exceptional contributions as a Professor and Chair of the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) for the past four years. Harrison is a member of the Rural Health Advisory Commission for Nebraska DHHS and serves on the Executive Committee for the Nebraska Health Network ACO. With a wealth of experience spanning over two decades, Harrison previously held key positions including Rural Residency Program Director in Family Medicine (1998-2020) and Associate Dean for Admissions at UNMC College of Medicine (2010-2020). Notably, he also served as President of the Academy of Family Physicians in 2006. Harrison's educational background includes a BS from Wayne State College (Class of 1983), an MD from UNMC College of Medicine (Class of 1988), and a Residency in Family Medicine from UNMC (Class of 1991). Beyond his illustrious career, Harrison is known for cherishing moments with his wife Connie, their two children, and three grandchildren.
