WCHS's WinnHealth Record Launching February 1st

A new Electronic Health Record (EHR) that will transform care.

Winnebago, NE – Winnebago Comprehensive Healthcare System is excited to announce that its new, modern, WinnHealth Record will launch on February 1st. WinnHealth Record will be WCHS’s new electronic health record (EHR) software, boosting collaboration and improving consistency to create a better patient experience for our relatives.

“As we looked to upgrade our EHR, in every phase from vendor selection and building to testing and training, our Health System has been focused on creating an electronic health record that best aligns with our strategic direction” explains Austin Schanzenbach, Chief Transformation Officer and Project Lead. “Launching WinnHealth Record will mean significant improvements in functionality, collaboration, automation, security, and patient safety across all services creating a better patient experience.”

For the past year, WCHS’s project team has been working with a healthcare information systems company to setup a new EHR. Among other critical phases of this process in December and January, WCHS completed the “mock live” and “integrated testing” phases, where a wide variety of different patient scenarios impacting all departments were tested from scheduling, registration, and orders to discharge and billing.  These phases allowed the team to discover issues or discrepancies and resolve them before going live. These phases are critical because they will limit the number of problems that will come to light in the first few weeks of an implementation as significant and multifaceted as this one.

“I am sure I speak for the entire project management team when I say that we are very grateful to everyone who is playing a role in this project, it has been and will continue to be a significant team effort as we bring it over the finish line,” says Susan Lowery, Clinical Informaticist and Project Manager. “This has been a long time coming for our health system and we are excited to share it with the community.”

After launch, the optimization phase of the process will take several months as all employees become proficient in this new system. In the first few weeks WCHS will have limited appointments to accommodate the change. While WCHS is striving for a seamless transition they would like to request that patients and relatives with appointments in the first couple of weeks of February come with updated insurance and tribal ID Cards, plan for potential delays, and/or don’t hesitate to call 402-745-3950 with any questions, follow-ups, or concerns.
